About Ceciliia’s Cafe
One meal at Cecilia’s Cafe and you’ll know why many hail her food as being inspired. If you’re a native New Mexican, you might even call it mind-blowing. That’s because this is New Mexican food done the way it should be, and has been for generations. This is the real thing, food that hasn’t been “anglosized” for touristy tastes. If you doubt the true marvels of Cecilia’s, just check out the recent appearance the cafe made as a featured stop on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-In’s and Dives” to showcase the tortilla-busting Fireman Burrito. This behemoth stuffs sausage, bacon, eggs and hashed browns into a homemade tortilla, and then piles on red chile, green chile, beans, carne adovada and cheese. It usually weighs between two and a half and three pounds, but that all depends on just who makes it (if it’s Cecilia, you can bet that will be on the weightier side). There’s also a spot on the Travel Channel’s “101 Tastiest Places to Chowdown” that showcases Cecilia’s yummy dishes. The crazy spot has a distinct charm all its own, from the declarations that dot the brick walls, to that warm Albuquerque sun bursting through the windows, right down to the cozy booths diners slide into. From the breakfast foods right down to the Chicharrones and Bean Burrito, Blue Corn Enchiladas with Shredded Roast beef, Capirotada, and loads of specials, and items that bring out the best of New Mexican culinary wonders. Seize the day and break your fast food rut with good company and great food as only Cecilia’s can provide.
